In terms of free internet in the hotel, I'd consider looking at Price.line Express or Hot.wire for a listing that notes free internet as an amenity. If i can't get this for a 4*, i'd rather downgrade the hotel then pay more (as long as it's clean, and a good location). I'm not that familiar with NYC, but looking at the map, i'd be happy with anything in Manhattan with the exception of the Financial District, and the Upper West/East side (looking for something more "central"). thereuare Posted April 30, 2014 Report Share Posted April 30, 2014 At the 4* level these zones are generally considered to be well located, with the caveats noted below: MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB, MSG, Chelsea CPS - has the Hudson hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards)... let us know if this would be an acceptable outcome MTE - most hotels are well located, but a few can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway Chelsea - subway can be up to a 10 minute walk but this is a 'happening' area right now with lots of bard, clubs, boutique, cafes, restaurants, etc... so depending upon your needs may be worth a 10 minute walk to the subway (if that distance would otherwise be an issue for you) Let us know your thoughts regarding the above, or let us know other zones that you are interested in, and we'll advise accordingly. I'll add that what appears to be The Row NYC is offered on HOTWIRE for $153/nite... not sure if you would want to increase your budget a few dollars for this centrally located property (or if you'd simply want to take this rather than bid)... the Park Central hotel also looks to be offered at $167/nite and the Doubletree Metropolitan at $159/nite. Regarding CPS - i'd prefer to avoid the hudson hotel :) Regarding MTE/Chelsea - the walking distance isn't a huge factor - so i'm good for these.
