Hotwire Hotel: 3.5* Newark (Airport EWR) Hilton Gateway at Penn Station

As the title says, I am thinking about doing the hotwire hot rate hotel deal that is:

 

3.5* in the EWR area for $97

 

FULL AMENITIES: Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access

 

I am hoping this is Hilton Penn Station as I have a conference there.  Can anyone confirm?

Also, I am taking my father with me and would like to have two double beds, does anyone know if they give the option for this hotel or if i put in 2 adults and 2 kids will i get two doubles instead of two cots with a queen.  They have both a queen and 2 doubles room at the same price on the hilton website, but this hotel is not listed under the standard rates on hotwire (i do believe this to be the hotel being offered though).

 

Finally, if nothing has panned out above for anyone, have you been able to call the hotel after the reservation or pay an upgrade at checkin for two doubles?

HOTWIRE guarantees the hotel room will accommodate the number of guests you include in your search. While this usually means two beds in the room, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc, but ultimately the exact room configuration is up to the hotel, as long as it can accommodate the number of guests that were included on your search. Given the hotel charges the same amount for one bedded/two bedded rooms on their own website, i would stay your chances are good (at least better than if two beds costs more than one bed, which is becoming an increasing trend), but there is always a chance that the hotel will not be able (due to availability), or willing, to accommodate your request for a room with two beds.

I had to get this hotel, so I am pleased with the price.  It was listed at $134.  Actually it is regularly $150 or more, at least on their website in the past.  I might have been able to do better on PRICELINE, but I chose ho.twire so I could specify two children in hopes of two double beds.  There was no option to choose bed types, but the confirmation states to call the hotel about bed types.  I called the hotel and i do have 2 double beds!!!

 

I am really thankful that this website is here to help as I might have been tempted to get another hotel nearby that was cheaper but only had 1 queen bed, as I was worried about going with either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE and ending up with a bad hotel or one that is far from where I need to be.

Glad to see this worked out so well for you and that you're pleased with the results... should be convenient for you as well as your dad (if he intends to visit NYC while you're working). Be careful if you go out at night as Newark is pretty rough, but the area is well known for the many spanish/portuguese restaurants if you choose to venture out.
