priester
I'm heading to Chicago in June and I've been watching the prices and periodically bidding to see if I can get something cheap. Prices seem to be finally falling now that we're inside 60 days. Anyways, I set up a price alert a while back to tell me if anyone wins a 4 star hotel for under $110, and this morning I got an email saying that someone had. I went on now to try and started at $100 and went up to $125 using rebids, but had no luck. Is it common that they would have just 1 room available for cheap, or are there any other reasons that I wouldn't be able to get a similar deal to the one the emailed me about? Link to comment
AaronJB
The price alerts via Price.line are not for your exact date/s. Please provide the date/s of travel and your desired budget and I would be happy to take a look and offer suggestions. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
priester
Thanks! I thought it was based on my exact search before. We're going June 6-10. I was hoping to get something around $125, but could probably go up to $150ish. Like I said the prices on the express deals have been dropping in the last week or so, and they're at $183+ right now for a 4 star. We're looking at the Millenium Park area or N. Michigan Ave area. Lincoln Park would be fine too. One other question... I have no problems when I do everything on my computer (which I usually do), but when I try the app, even though it asks me to for the number of rooms I'm looking for, it always defaults back to 1 room... can you not do multiple room bidding on the phone? Thanks a lot. Any help would be great! Link to comment

Also, please don't use the links in any PRICELINE or HOTWIRE emails, instead return to the board and click the links here (the search boxes at the top of the board provide easy access, the links within each are also click-able, and our BiddingHelper.com tool can help you quickly search and compare hotels as well). Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
AaronJB
Unfortunately - at this point, at least - I think you're probably looking at $145-160 for a 4* in the Loop or River North-NMA areas. You can certainly start moderately lower ($120-125) and work higher. You do have some time, but this is certainly the high season for travel in the city with nicer weather. Rates will hopefully come down a little, but I would say monitor Price.line Express and Hot.wire pretty frequently to see where rates are going. Or, you can try to lock something in now in order to hedge against the possibility that rates may head North. Let us know your thoughts and we would be happy to offer further suggestions.
