Priceline Age Limit

I'm looking for a hotel in the Roseville-Rocklin, California area via Priceline. So far, I've found a decent amount of three-star hotels that I'm interested in bidding on. When attempting, I couldn't help but notice the 21 and older age limit in parenthesis. I have been doing some research and not all hotels have the age limit of 21. If I booked, knowingly under 21 years of age, do you think they would accept my reservation at check-in or is it probable that they turn me away. It might just be an obvious answer but I thought I should satisfy my thoughts by just asking.

Thanks!

Welcome to Betterbidding.

If you go to Hot.wire and click on a listing on that service, then scroll to the bottom of the page, there should be a section that notes acceptable age (either 18+ or 21+). That would be a much better route than bidding, as Price.line is 21+ from the standpoint of there is no way to guarantee you won't get a hotel that is 21+ and if you did get a 21+ hotel via Price.line bidding they could definitely turn you away.

Please keep us updated with what you decide and if you have additional questions.

Just to add to the above...

Often the 21+ year age requirement is not just due to responsibility/maturity issues, but that many hotel rooms have mini-bars in them with alcohol, and it's a liability for the hotel if somebody under the age of 21 should gain access.

I think purchasing a HOTWIRE hotel that only shows an 18+ year old requirement would be the better option for your scenario.

Hello, I realize this is an old thread but in the case someone else stumbles upon it and is looking for another POV -  I was also fearful of this. Never have I ever tried it before except this November I was more or less stranded in NYC. I usually stay with my friend but there was a miscommunication after an event and she grew ill - not replying to texts and ultimately falling asleep. Leaving me with no way of knowing if she was home and not wanting to risk a sketchy ride to Queens myself.

As it grew later I decided that I couldn't wait any longer and - what made it was: it started pouring rain. NYC is only a six hour train ride so I usually go with minimum amount of $ as possible so booking a hotel full price really was not an option unless I wanted to crack down and ask for money wired from my (very angry) parents. Decided to take my chances and if worst came to worst beg to stay in the lobby since I had a room. Won a ~90$ bid and checked into the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square with NO problems at all! Was very shocked and pleased with my room :) (off topic: I was expecting a cubicle for that price and location but it was very spacious - though admittedly not the best view).

SO, if its true desperation, I think you'll be ok. As long as you look presentable (I was wearing nice clothes but my hair was an absolute wreck; I had no luggage whatsoever(at my friends house) - probably looked like a recently new homeless person. Be courteous to the front desk. I wouldn't stay at anything above a 3 - 3 1/2 stars, maybe four depending on the place. Typically I assume the higher end the more chance they'll say something or there will be a mini bar or something. I feel like 2-3 stars in new york have seen a lot worse come through their doors.

Glad to hear this worked out well for you in this instance, I wouldn't advise others take a chance based upon your one time experience...

I don't know the age policy of this Hilton Garden Inn, but in the future should you win a hotel that has a minibar in the room (ie- access to alcohol) or have a check-in clerk who more closely follows the hotel's protocol, and it could easily be an issue. A better option in this situation would be to use HOTWIRE which will show you the hotel's minimum age to check-in at the bottom of the second page during the booking process.

Hi, new member here.

I'm currently planning a trip to Virginia beach (probably downtown Norfolk or Portsmouth) with 5 other people from 7/25 to 7/27. We want the price per room to be at most around $100 and are looking for at least a 3 star hotel. Looking at the options on both hotwire and priceline, I feel that bidding with priceline will definitely yield the better deal. However, the issue is that none of us are 21 - I'm only 19.

I've also read that the age restriction really depends on the individual hotel's policies. And after some research (looking at the maps on hotels.com, booking.com, as well as the maps from betterbidding), I found that all the hotels listed do not have a 21+ policy discreetly stated. I am pretty confident that if I bid that I will probably get one of these hotels, but there is still some apprehension to the possibility of getting some hotel that was not only any of these maps and requires 21+.

Have I done enough research to justify this relatively safe gamble, or should I go with hotwire and book something more expensive?

Thank you
