Hotwire Hotel: 4* Montreal (Downtown) Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel

Our family of five recently stayed at Intercontinental The Barclay. I purchased two rooms, and selected 5 guests. On check in I was told that they didn't have to provide beds for all guests and that we needed to be careful travelling as a family as someone might need to sleep on the floor!

We were given a room with a king bed, and a suite, which had a king bed & sofa bed - which he said was an upgrade, as they didn't have any double double rooms left. He was going to give us two king rooms, which you couldn't swing a cat in, much less have a rollaway bed!

My understanding of Hotwire is they guarantee everyone will have a bed to sleep in, whether that be a regular bed (albeit with the possibility of sharing it) or a rollaway bed, but the man at reception said this isn't the case with Hotwire or Priceline.

I'm a little concerned about this as we have another upcoming booking in Montreal, again I have booked two rooms, for five guests.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Can you please share your Montreal win with the board so that others can benefit from the information (you can add the details in a reply to this thread, we'll them move this thread to the Hotwire Canada section of the board and we will reply to you there)

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Thanks.

For the future, please change the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to United States and the currency dropdown to US Dollars. Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase.

As far as room occupancy, some front desk clerks still get it wrong (since when both services, PRICELINE and HOTWIRE, started they each only offered double occupancy and no ability to search for more than two per room). PRICELINE still has a 'rooms for double occupancy only and after that it's at the discretion of the hotel' policy, but HOTWIRE does guarantee sleeping accommodations for everyone that you include in your search. From this Hotwire Help page:

All rooms booked on Hotwire will accommodate the appropriate number of guests in each room, based on the total number of guests you provided and the number of rooms you requested.

A good policy (regardless of how you book) is to always bring a printout of your confirmation page with your as it's always easier to handle any situations that may arise when you have confirmation numbers, support phone numbers, etc. inhand. Should you encounter any problems during check-in simply call HOTWIRE and have them speak to the hotel to resolve.

Enjoy your upcoming trip.

Thank you for your response. When we went to check in, hoping to do so early we encountered the same issue, the clerk said we had two king rooms & a rollaway would cost $30 and they have been telling HOTWIRE constantly of this problem. Anyway, we couldn't check in then as our rooms weren't ready. When we returned later with a different clerk, we had no problems at all. In fact we were given a choice of rooms.

As for the booking, I am aware of the process re site selection, but as I said, my husband made the booking & doesn't use this site. :)

Thanks again.

...they have been telling HOTWIRE constantly of this problem.

As far as i know, when the hotels input rates into the system (that HOTWIRE accesses to check availability) the hotel can designate room type (which would 'allow' or 'disallow' bookings for triple/quad occupancy), which if i'm correct, it sounds like the hotel needs to change how the input/designate their inventory.

When we returned later with a different clerk, we had no problems at all. In fact we were given a choice of rooms.

Which reinforces my previous comment that sometimes the front desks don't know the 'new' rules (although it's been a few years now that HOTWIRE has allowed bookings for up to quad occupancy)

As mentioned above, if you encounter and future issues, just call HOTWIRE and ask them to resolve the issue.

...my husband made the booking & doesn't use this site.

... but he should start. ;)
