Hey all

I am looking to get a room in downtown Denver (really would like to get room there, so I can just walk to Coors Field for a baseball game) for the night of 07/04/2014. I have gotten a number of 3*, 3.5*, and 4* properties in this area for less than $100 and some for quite a bit less than that. I have been looking at Hot.wire and Price.line using the links on this site. and this is what I am getting.

$155 3.5* on Priceline.Express)

$158 3.5* on Hot.wire

Also I have tried the name your price feature on Price.line and I am up to $100. I started my bidding at $50 knowing that I have a few months to book this room. After each unsuccessful bid for this zone I would add a free rebidding zone (either Evergreen or Northeast Denver). I have done this for the past several nights and am not successful. Just wondering how early most people start bidding with Price.line. In addition I am wondering if the holiday has anything to do with my issues.

I also would open to other areas of Denver, but would really like something where I would not have to drive to the game. Could use light rail, but there is not a way of knowing if the hotel I will get elsewhere will be near a light rail station.

Thanks in advance.

I would say that your rejected bids are a mix baseball game and holiday.

Bidding approx 1/3 of the PRICELINE EXPRESS price isn't realistic. And this has nothing to do with how early or late you're bidding. But to answer your question. With a game and holiday would I try to close this stay at an early stage. And there's no best time to bid.

I belive you're looking at approx $120-135 for a 3.5* with current rates.

If you would like to get help with a bidding strategy so please post your budget/night before tax/fees, zone(s) you're willing to stay in and the star rating for the hotel.

Hey all

After starting my search using the Priceline link and several days of bidding on Priceline here is what I was able to get.

3.5* Crowne Plaza Hotel Denver for $145 + 27.53 (taxes/fees) = $172.53

The Crowne Plaza website shows their best rate of $193 + taxes and fees, so while the price through Priceline is not as good as have gotten for this zone or this hotel for that matter in past I think I still got an okay deal. I was willing to spend up $150 and was going to look at booking a hotel through another site. I had looked at other hotels including the Residence Inn City Center and was finding rates closer to $200 + taxes/fees. I stayed at this hotel in the past it was nice and for me is with-in walking distance of Coors Field and the 16th Street Mall.
