tignor
Both our parents are elderly, and my mother has metastatic cancer (just diagnosed, was given the timeline of average 2 years)...so we are wary of traveling in case of sudden death or illness. However, at $5 a day, this seems almost too cheap. How much protection does it get you? We figure the chances of something happening in the 4 days we are gone are slim to none, but if we could easily get a full refund should happen, we'll go for it. Just wanted to ask others opinions. We normally don't get insurance unless we are traveling internationally, but these days, we are unsure. Link to comment
AaronJB
I'm very sorry to hear about your mother's illness. There is a lot of fine print, but the trip insurance is for illness/doctor/similar circumstances. Hopefully you won't need it, but for $5 a day, if the fine print is acceptable, it may be worth considering.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. tignor
Thank you. Sad thing is, if she had gotten a colonoscopy when she should have at 50, it could have been prevented. Only 50% of Americans do, even if it's 100% covered by insurance as preventative care -- so I do like to encourage everyone to get one. No one should be going through what she is. Thankfully, her spirits are good and she seems to be ok right now, but we are cautious in trip planning now. Link to comment
thereuare
I recently suffered a loss to cancer so my sympathies are with you (and as a result i have started to go to the doctor for a physical, other specialists as needed).I had similar circumstances and would suggest you call the insurance company to see what is/won't be covered. In my situation (as i had expected) since we already knew about the cancer before the insurance would have been bought, it would be considered a pre-existing condition, and therefore would not have been covered (this was for a cruise and not hotel so different terms would apply, but you should check directly with the insurance company as there are always a LOT of exclusions with any insurance policy) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
tignor
Good idea. I'll find out more about the policy before I buy into it. Thank you. Link to comment
