Priceline Hotel: 4* New York City (Downtown - Financial District) World Center Hotel

Hi, I would like a bid strategy for 10 nights stay in New York city- CPS, UES, UWS, TS, MTW, MTE, ESB, downtown soho

My dates are 23 Oct to 2 Nov, preferably 3* and above. I selected all the areas above and bid up to $140 and unsuccessful but were unable to bid any further. Any strategy is appreciated!

Your budget might be enough, but before bidding, note that at 3.5* and under the follow caveats apply:

CPS - contains the Hudson hotel which is well located but notoriously small rooms (~150 sq ft)... is this acceptable?

MTE - some of the hotels in this zone can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway, would this be ok?

Please confirm if each of the above are acceptable so we know whether to include/exclude in a bidding strategy and we'll advise accordingly.

Thanks for letting me know! In that case can we exclude Hudson (CPS) and also MTE? I would prefer a more comfortable walking distance to subway (less than 10min). Thanks!

OK, since we're on the zone discussion i'll add some more info...

UES and UWS both can go very far north, which is not the ideal location for the average user. Assuming you don't have reason to be in either of these areas (ie- no meetings at Columbia, hospitals, etc) then you may want to consider not including these as well. The lower the star rating i think the greater the risk of ending up 'too far' uptown.

If bidding 3* i would suggest the following areas:

Chelsea (can go a bit far West but is not now a 'vibrant' area.. but ultimately up to you if you want to include or not)

DT

ESB

MSG

MTW

TS

I would start with these zones, then if rejected up to your maximum bid, re-consider including some of the other zone(s), lowering your star rating (not that advisable, imo), raising your budget, or SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID.

Haha ok I had a look at the map. The location is actually not bad, as long as the hotels 3* and above are close to subway, I don't mind including Chelsea. Thanks.

Hi, I tried the above strategy and bid up to $180 and no luck. Could it be the number of nights (10) too long?

With my budget should I try Jersey City instead? As long as its near metro and I don't mind to do a bit of travel.

You may only be ~$10-$20 from a win which i do understand adds up over a 10 nite stay, but if successful would put you in Manhattan and a complete stay at the same hotel. Would you prefer to increase your maximum bid a little, SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, or try Jersey City in your bidding?

I would try to get as many nites on the first purchase as possible, as this makes it easier to win for the second purchase. Therefore you would wan to loop thru the strategy above using the following date combinations:

My guess is the World Center Hotel? And if I were correct, do you know whether I'll get the studio with convertible sofa bed or the standard room with queen size bed? I would prefer the latter. Thanks!!

My guess would be the World Center; HOTWIRE and PRICELINE rates are for regular/non-upgraded rooms; if you have a specific request, I would call the hotel in advance and ask regarding availability.
