EWR to Hoboken/Jersey City -

MetroLink- Metrolink (fare about $11) takes you from EWR to Newark Penn Station where you can then take the PATH Train (fare $1.50) to Hoboken, Jersey City, or Exchange Place. The cost of Metrolink to Newark Penn Station makes this a poor value when factoring cost vs. time... trip is about 50 minutes.

Bus to PATH- you can take the NJ Transit bus from EWR to Newark Penn Station, at which point you can take the PATH train from Newark Penn Station into Manhattan. NOT recommended after daylight hours... area around Newark Penn Station is not great. Trip should take 50-60 minutes depending upon time of day, how well you catch the tranfers, etc. Here are the NJ Transit Bus Schedule links:

NJ TRANSIT BUS #62 (most frequent)

NJ TRANSIT BUS #67 (infrequent)

NJ TRANSIT BUS #40 (stop listed as 'under' Newark Penn Station and also goes to nearby prison :) )

NJ Transit Stipulates only 2 bags per person not to exceed 22" x 16" x 8"

Here is the connecting information for the PATH Train:

Taxi- trip takes about 20 minutes. Taxi from EWR Airport taxistand: $35-$40 fixed rate. There is also a $1 charge for each oversized bag. Surprisingly, better rates are available through some local car service companies (I can recommend a local taxi company that will pick you up at the airport and take you to Hoboken or Jersey City for $25 (vs. $35 if you get a cab from the airport taxi line) but they won't monitor your flight schedule, you call them once you land and/or have your picked up your luggage.. send a PM if interested).

LGA to Jersey City (Hyatt or Candlewood Suites):

Bus--> Subway--> PATH: Take the Q33 Bus to 74th St/Broadway (ask the driver to alert you of the stop, i believe it is the last stop on the bus). Get on the E train to the last stop, World Trade Center where you will then get on the PATH train to Exchnage Place.

Fares: Bus $2, Subway $2 (free if you have a metrocard which you used on the bus), PATH $1.50

LGA to Jersey City (Courtyard or Doubletree):

Bus--> Subway--> PATH: Take the M60 Bus to Astoria Blvd. (ask the driver to alert you of the stop). Get on the N train and take it to 34th St in Manhattan where you will then get on the PATH Train (Journal Square line) to Pavonia/Newport.

Fares: Bus $2, Subway $2 (free if you have a metrocard which you used on the bus), PATH $1.50

Taxi to PATH: from LGA to NJ the fare will be double the meter (it's supposed to only be double from the NY/NJ border but you won't likely get a driver to abide by that... even if you get a driver to agree he probably won't know his way around Jersey City and neither will you!) Better option to take a taxi to a PATH Train (33rd St PATH Station for Courtyard or Doubletree) (World Trade Center PATH Station for Hyatt or Candlewood)... take that PATH train to stop mentioned above.

Fares: Taxi to PATH Trains $30-$35, PATH Fare $1.50
