Hi All,
I've recently found this forum while doing some research on hotel deals. Great resource, can't belive I haven't found this sooner.
Looking for a range of Max 4* 120-125, 3* 85.
First time in San Francisco, for the pass week I've been applying the re-bidding strategy for Oct 9-14 without success:
Bid up to $120 for 4*
Bid up to $95 for 3*
lastminutetravel had an 4* (Hyatt embarcadero) for around $125 for my dates but the request was denied.
hotwire lowest offer 4* $169
Looks like it's going to be tough to get a great deal on my dates. As it look, many people on the forum are on the same boat.
I have Super 8 Union Sqaure on reserve for a good price of $67/night. Was really looking forward to upgrading the hotel. I don't belive a 3* hotel at $99/nt warrant a stay over Super 8 at that price, am I wrong?
I am contemplating in hotel hopping since Sat or Sun may be the issue.
What do you believe my next steps should be.. will price drop closer to the date? is there a convention or some event?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks All.

Welcome to Betterbidding.
San Fran in the Fall has been consistently pretty busy, with higher rates across most dates. I'm not sure if there's a convention or event; prices seem pretty high during the Fall overall. What would be your desired max budget per night?
At this point, you could wait it out and see if rates Fall off as we go into September (although they could continue higher) or expand your desired areas or up your desired max a bit and see if you cold snag a win at somewhat higher rates.
As for whether or not to upgrade, I think $90's are a worthwhile upgrade for a 3* over a Super 8, but it depends on your budget and what you're looking for and how much you're going to be in the room.
In terms of booking regular rate, please use the site's regular rate links in the support/travel section.

Right now I'm looking at 2nts at King George for $90/nt and 3nts at Clift for $120/nt before tax.Is that a good value for Oct?
I'm in no hurry cause I would be content with super 8 (savings bonus, can spend on food!) since I am accustomed to many hostels overseas.
I figure it would be a treat (for my b-day) if I could have squeeze out a good hotel deal.
Ya, I think my max would still be $125 for 4*.
Thanks for the links, will look into since the Clift Hotel is from one of your link.

Since you have back-up reservations for your complete stay i'd just conitnue bidding up to your limit at each star rating. As you get closer you may also want to to see if you can beat your 2 nite reservation or your 3 nite reservation (as opposed to bidding for all 5 nites together)... if successful you can then just replace one of the reservations and continue to bid to try and beat the remaining one.
