I've been searching for a good rate on a minivan for a week long stay in San Diego in August. I've searched all the rental agencies and the prices vary from $600 to $850. That is including fees and taxes that the airport sticks to us.
My local car dealership advised me to look into San Diego car dealerships since they sometimes rent cars. I found Kearney Mesa Toyota does rent vehicles. They are giving me a 2011 Toyota Siena for 8 days of usage for $396. NO FEES OR TAXES. The dealership is 10 miles NW from the airport.
Only limitation is I have 150 miles per day to use but since we are staying in the SD area, that shouldn't be a problem.

Glad you found a nice deal on a mini-van.
One thing to confirm/doubecheck is the insurance aspect... if you're using credit card perk to cover any part of the insurance, just give them a call to confirm that you'll be covered when renting thru the dealership.
