BrockLong
Two couples will be travelling to San Francisco for the above dates and are looking for one room in a good area at a decent price. We are unfamiliar with the area or the hotel situation there. Do you have any suggestions on specific areas of town that would be good to stay while sightseeing? Can I get by with inputting 2 guests, rather than 4, and still be fairly certain of getting 2 beds? If so, would it be too risky for me to use Priceline to book the room as I know that Priceline only guarantees space for 2 guests? Would I find better prices if I split up the stay among 2 hotels? I ran a brief search on Hotwire and, using your site's list, saw listings for what I believed to be (1) the Orchard Garden Hotel in Union Square East for $130/nt; (2) either the Warwick or Adagio Hotels in Union Square West for $114/nt; and (3) Hotel Diva in Union Square West for $96/nt. I looked at the review for each of these hotels on tripadvisor. The Orchard Garden appears to be fine while the others appear to be less so. Have you heard any feedback on these hotels? Are these prices good?I realize that I am asking a lot of questions. This site has been extremely helpful to me in the past on finding a nice room at a very reasonable price. I don't have any experience with San Francisco and really could use some help!! I hope that I have not waited too late to try to get it for the trip next week! Thanks. And, as always, I will book my reservation through your links if I use HOTWIRE or PRICELINE!!! Link to comment

A few hotels that come up regularly are well known for assigning PRICELINE customers a room with one bed and charging an upgrade fee for two beds. You could also win a hotel that doesn't have two bed rooms available even if you're willing to pay more.Regarding the HOTWIRE searches you did...were those searches done for "2 adults/0 children"? That only guarantees one bed as well. To guarantee two beds on HOTWIRE search on "3 adults/0 children". When you do that do you see any options within your budget? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for your purchases. Link to comment
BrockLong
We booked our room directly from a hotel and not via Priceline or Hotwire. Link to comment
