  2. At current rates i'm doubtful that $130 will be enough for a 4* hotel in one of these zones, but if you want to give it a try... When bidding 4* in NYC you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. 3. Booked the encore for this weekend. Looking at these dates again. Looks like prices have changed/increased.

  5. Congrats on your success. Definitely an excellent win for this Times Square property! Hope you are looking forward to your stay. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
  6. Welcome to Betterbidding. 5* Magnificent Mile -Gold Coast for $241 Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center >>> This would be a possible match for the Trump. Would this property be of interest? If not, let us know more about what you are looking for and we would be happy to research and offer suggestions. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

  8. Please provide me with a bidding strategy for a 4 Star hotel. I would be interested in these areas: Chelsea ESB Union Square-Flatiron Mid-town East Maximum bid $130/night, dates 6/19 - 6/24 Amenities: Free Wi-fi Business Center Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Thank you
  9. Went with PRICELINE EXPRESS and it was The Premier.
  10. Looking on priceline for a five star hotel in magnificent mile for one night June 6. There is a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal offered for $250. Is there any way of narrowing it down to know which hotel this will be?
  11. Yes, both are acceptable. And I'd exclude Rock Center. Max bid would be $200 since if I got to that I'd at that point decide on one of the two Priceline Express offers.
  12. I assume both of the zone above are acceptable? (did you also want to include Rock Center or leave that out) Let us know your maximum bid and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  13. Since I'm going for 4.5* I think I'd be fine with any of the hotels with that star rating. So I'd like to bid first and if that doesn't work out then go with one of the two Priceline Express offers. What would you suggest as a bidding strategy?
  14. 4.5* Magnificent Mile -Gold Coast for $151 Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>>Westin Michigan Ave. This is a nice Westin property located near the center of the Michigan Ave. area. Easy walk to subway at State/Chicago and not far from Gold Coast dining and shopping. With the coupon, this is more than $100 less than the other option and the difference in location between the Hyatt and the Westin is really not that significant. 4* Downtown Chicago - Millennium Park for $153 Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>This would be a possible match for the Hard Rock, which is a more centrally located hotel when considering the city as a whole. The Hard Rock is just a little bit South of the river. It really also depends on what you are looking for in terms of where you want to be in the city - if you are focused on Michigan Ave and the surrounding area, then you can't get more of a "Michigan Ave" location than the potential Westin. I'll also note this listing on PRICELINE EXPRESS: 4* Magnificent Mile -Gold Coast for $146 Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>I'm not sure what property this is, but I'll note that on the detail page, an upgraded city view room is only a few dollars more and a view room is a plus in the city. The property gets a 7+ user rating. Are you looking for a particular location, style or other factors? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  15. With PRICELINE EXPRESS you are given a little bit of information about the specific property being offered so you can use this to research and take a guess as to what it is that you may likely be receiving. With PRICELINE bidding there is no specific information shown about the hotel you will receive (in fact, PRICELINE does not even look at inventory for your dates until you click the BUY MY HOTEL ROOM NOW button) so with bidding it is a bit more unknown, where as with PRICELINE EXPRESS we can help and take an educated guess. Best guess/comments for each of the offers above (confirm your dates on the landing page of any links provided below): 4.5* Central Park South for $207 Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center ==> Le Parker Meridien New York 4.5* Times Square - Theatre District for $225 Business Center Restaurant Airport Shuttle Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> The Premier New York Times Square would be my best guess here Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes, or how you'd like to proceed, and we'll go from there.
  16. There will be 2 people in each of rooms. 4.5* Central Park South Rated 8.0 out of 10 (or higher) Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center Mandatory fee of USD 32.66 per room per stay is collected at the hotel. 4.5* Times Square - Theater District Rated 7.0 out of 10 (or higher) Business Center Restaurant Airport Shuttle Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Mandatory fee of USD 21.78 per room per stay is collected at the hotel Question on bidding vs. Priceline Express - I thought that with either you could wind up with any hotel in the * rating. Is it your experience that Priceline Express uses a subset that is easier to identify? We'll have three generations in our group and wanted a more central location that allowed to walking nearby as well as taking subway as needed. Had considered downtown but recall that there isn't as much to see on the weekend.
  17. Sorry to hear it was a hassle getting this taken care of but that it's now resolved. Can you please post the details of your replacement purchase (star rating, zone, hotel name, room rate per nite, dates, and amenities HOTWIRE associates with this property) as a NEW TOPIC so others will be aware of it when searching the topic titles on the board and in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. You can still view all of the details of this new purchase by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT >> MY TRIPS near the top right of their home page (and then clicking 'Trip Details' next to this purchase). Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Thanks!
  18. How many people are going to be in each room? Please confirm the amenities showing with each PRICELINE EXPRESS listing and we would be very happy to take a look and try to ID. Additionally, if you let us know more about what you are looking for we can research and offer other suggestions. Bidding is going to be slightly cheaper than PRICELINE EXPRESS, but you can wind up with any hotel at the star rating chosen within the zone. With the 5% coupon currently available for PRICELINE EXPRESS, it may be worth considering that given the ability to have a greater idea of what is showing vs bidding for a bit less. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  19. Welcome to BetterBidding! I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you search using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool. (always use this method for your searches/purchases to ensure you're seeing the complete amenity set and for an easy comparison of PRICELINE vs. HOTWIRE, as well as to use our new IS THIS A GOOD PRICE feature). If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (including any accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? Using this method, below is the full list of amenities i'm seeing for each of the above: 2.5* La Jolla for $127.00 Free Internet Near Beach Smoke Free Pool Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Golf Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking ==> Inn by the Sea would be my best guess for this one 2.5-star Boutique Hotel in La Jolla area, $198 WHY?? What could this be that you would want to pay $65/nite more than the same star rating as above where this one has a lower TA rating and a lower rating by previous HOTWIRE guests? If you're willing to pay up to $198/nite then why not upgrade your star rating for less money with this HOTWIRE offer: 4* HOTWIRE La Jolla for $178.00 Free Internet Boutique Near Beach Smoke Free Pool Restaurant Hi-Speed Internet Golf Spa Childrens Activities Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ==> which has a 90% recommended rating by previous HOTWIRE guests and a 4.5/5.0 TA rating... the Grande Colonial La Jolla would be my best guess for this one 3* SeaWorld - Mission Bay for $130.00 Free Parking Complimentary Breakfast Free Internet Pet Friendly Fitness Pool Business Blind Accessible ==> La Quinta Inn & Suites San Diego Mission Bay Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help.
  20. I;'m looking to book 5 rooms. Preference is for Central Park South or Times Square - Theater District but would also consider Rockefeller Center area. In Priceline Express from Bidding Helper I see 4.5* Central Park South for $207 and Times Square for $225. My guess would be Le Parker Meridien for Central Park South - would you agree? My only concern is that some of the reviews for that hotel have it going downhill. Any ideas what the Times Square Express deal might be? If I were to try to bid before going with the Priceline Express deals, what would you suggest? Thanks! Helen
  21. All posts can go in this same thread. Once you win and use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button to edit the topic title the entire thread will automatically be moved to the correct section of the board (if necessary). I'm not seeing any 2.5* hotel in this zone for $96/nite, but I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you search using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool. Is there something in particular that you're looking for in a hotel for this trip? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  22. Well, after multiple phone calls, emails and tweets, I was able to get an exception and have this booking cancelled. I had to agree to rebook with Hotwire and am now staying at the Shilo Inn by PDX for $40 more per night. Lesson learned. No more budget deal hunting on HOTWIRE :) 3.5* and up from now on.
  23. Welcome to Betterbidding. On PRICELINE EXPRESS I'm seeing: (Please confirm that the correct dates of travel are showing on the detail page after clicking on the link below.) With the PRICELINE EXPRESS listings, you can also use the coupon code in my signature. 4.5* Downtown Chicago - Millennium Park for $155 Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>A guess here would be the Monaco. If the Monaco, this isn't on the Mag Mile, but it's right near the Michigan Ave bridge, making for a very central location looking at the city as a whole. North of the bridge, there's Michigan Ave, while if you head a bit South there's Millennium Park and Art Institute. With a 9+ customer rating on the listing, this Kimpton property gets excellent reviews. 4.5* Downtown - River North for $182 Pets Allowed Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>A guess here would be the Palomar, another Kimpton property. This hotel opened a few years ago and is in the core of the River North area - tons of restaurants and nightlife nearby, plus easy walk to Michigan Ave. The subway is also right out front. Would either of these possibilities be of interest? Definitely no need to go to the top end of your budget, as I think there's very nice options towards the lower end of that $150-250 range. The Air/Water show does take place during this period (19th/20th.) Please let me know if you have any hotel questions before booking and I'd be happy to answer any city questions, as well. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  24. Hi, I've new to online hotel bidding - it is a bit overwhelming looking at Priceline. I'm going to Chicago and want to stay on the Magnificent Mile from August 17-20. I'm Canadian, and the dollar is pretty bad right now, with the exchange rate, so I'd love a great deal. Suggestions on when to bid (now? closer to the date?) and what to bid would be greatly appreciated. We'd also be willing to do an "express deal" or any other way to get a good deal. $150-250 US would be good. TIA!! :)
  25. Please help me identify or get an idea of which hotels could be the following. I'm looking into the Hotwire Hot Rate Hotels in the Mission Bay Area and the La Jolla California area (see below). Can you please tell me what hotels fall into this category that are similar or which one it could be? I'm having a difficult time narrowing it down/finding them. Thank you in advance for any information you provide. 1) La Jolla.
