1. This is Easter weekend. Started bidding at $75. Got a counter offer at $102. Added a free rebidding zone and went to $82. Came back a day later at $85, got another $102 counter offer. Added a free rebidding zone and went up to $90. Price accepted.
2. I just tried a bid of $75. It got rejected with a counter offer of $102. I added a free re-bid zone, raised my price to $82 and it got rejected, too.
3. We typically stay in 4* or 4.5* properties, so I'm looking to get into a 3* property in this zone since it's the best there. Our friends are staying at a Hawthorne Inn w/ two adults and three kids. I'd be fine w/ the Courtyard Marriott or similar. I just don't feel like paying $129/night if I know I can get it cheaper.
4. Current price for the Courtyard by Marriott (one of the Priceline hotels in that zone) is $129/night, so something less than that.
5. Checking in: Sat., 3/26 Checking out: Mon., 3/28 Note: Sunday, 3/27 is EASTER Looking for a hotel in the University Area as we have friends staying there. Best option in that zone is a 3* hotel. What should I start bidding at?
6. As a point of reference, I just tried bidding for a 4* for Times Square and Midtown West for $150 and then for $170 for Nov. 7-9 and both got rejected. I'm going to continue to increase my bid over the next few days, but I expect to pay closer to $200/night. I don't think you mentioned what * level you were looking for, but if you're looking for 4*, you're going to have to go much higher than $115/night.
7. Posting here after the fact. Wanted to add to the helpful info here. Thanks for the site. I made my bid via the PRICELINE link here.
8. Posting this after the fact. Wanted to make sure it was added to the collective info here. Thanks for the site. I made my bid via the PRICELINE link here.
9. Opening bid of $35. Priceline counter-offered at $45. I took it because I need this car in less than 24 hours and don't have time for more bidding.
10. I got this on my opening bid of $62. As soon as I won, I realized I had only booked for 1 night and I need 2. It offered me the option to extend my stay at the same price. I clicked on that and went through the process, noting along the way that it said it wasn't guaranteed. When I got to the final click, I got a "Sorry, we can't extend your stay" message. And because that attempt at extending my existing bid counted as a new bid, I now need to wait 24 hours to see if I can repeat this deal for one more night.
11. I bid yesterday at $9/day and got rejected. The rejection came with a counteroffer and now I wish I could remember exactly what it was. I seem to recall it listed an all-in price (including taxes) -- and I think that offer MAY have been less than my $11/day winning bid today. Total Rental Days: 28 days Subtotal: $308.00 Taxes and Fees: $199.14 Total Charges: $507.14 I did all my bidding through the PRICELINE link here.
12. I'm going to need a car for a month (Houston, TX). Does anyone know if car rental agencies make their inventory available for long-term rentals on Priceline? ==== Never mind. I answered my own question: the maximum rental period on Priceline is 28 days.
13. Forgot to post this back when I got it, but I wanted to make sure I shared since I value the info I get from this board. I did most of my bidding through the PRICELINE links here. I think I started my bids around $130 and had to keep upping by $5 until I hit this.
14. I used the PRICELINE link here to place my bid. $12 was my first offer. Your Offer Price: $12.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 3 days (2 days and 9 1/2 hours) Subtotal: $36.00 Taxes and Fees: $39.76 Total Charges: $75.76 Lowest Published Price: $150.50 Total Savings:* $74.74 (You saved 50%)
15. Whoops. My dates got cut off. This is for 4/19/11 - 4/22/11.
16. New member here. I'll be using the forum PRICELINE links next time I bid. I just needed to get this booking done, so I didn't necessarily start at a rock-bottom price and inch my way up. Husband was getting a "special" offer of $109 via <a href="http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-1492259-10515014" target="_blank">Expedia</a>, so I decided to start at $60. But when I clicked "Buy My Hotel Room" and didn't get the "Dude, you're such a cheapskate, you'll never get a room at that bid" warning, I went back and lowered it by $5. Got it at $55 on the first try.
