  1. Thanks, Thehotel disappeared for a while and then just popped back up later tonight so I booked it. got the theatro as planned. Just wanted to mention that hotwire does tack on higher taxes than other website, so something to consider when people compare prices. Final price was $162 with tax, including $32 of taxes, which is equivalent to the amount of tax hotels includes for the same room at full retail of $209. Looking around, it seems hotwire does charge higher taxes and fees based on the "tax recovery charge" grab bag..
  2. Hi! looking to do the same here.. 4/25-4/26, Full amenities showing as: FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower No 5 star shown on hotwire list. I am guessing it is a the theatro, which at about $130 does not seem bad! Although list price is just over $200 for that night.

  4. Went for the safest option , since I did not like the Ritz. The Langham looks awesome and that is what we got! I used , of course, the HOTWIRE booking links on this site. We will probably be stoppping by Pierrot Gourmet for breakfast at the Peninsula.. unless the Langham has a better option. I just want great croissants!
  5. Hi, looking for a last minute stay in chicago. The only hotel listed in Chicago Water tower is the Peninsula but that seems unlikely.. Here is the full list of amenities: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Tennis nearby, Spa services Is this the peninsula or something else? $215 for tomorrow night We also have the 5* star option in River north for $200 which I am guessing is the langham. : Free Internet, Indoor pool(s), Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa servic Thanks!
  6. Yep.. I see that too! too bad.. I guess I will stay with my expensive booking then.. Or see if I can find a cheaper nearby hotel
  7. I did not book anything or needed to stay. I was checking prices and trying my guess at some properties and noticed something that didn't match the list on theboard. Just wanted to share in case it would help. I believe I have seen a thread in the general forum for that. I will post there next time.
  8. Hi, Just did that. I wonder what happened because I specifically remembered a while ago to go post about what we ended up booking instead. thanks,
  9. So thanks everyone for your help. I personnally would have booked what we thought was the Ivy but I was not the final decision maker on this one. and would have to love to report a win. We ended up booking at the Hilton Michagan Avenue (South, close to millenium park), directly with the hotel website, which was the only one that offered a deal close to $200 for that night. for a room with 2 double and a roll away bed for a total of 5 people. I paid for my share and went to sleep in my much more comfortable bed at home. Oh well!
  10. Thanks for the reminder.I didn't realize I had that other open Peninsula thread. I actually came in a month ago to update the second one. I swear I had posted an update..Was this thread move or merged? Maybe I forgot to click submit? Anyway, I will post & report right away.
  11. Hi everyone, I know I am playing a risky game here but I want to see what you think. I have friends coming over from oversea staying at The Manhattan. Fully booked online, I was able to get a refundable reservation for$280 a night. Plus tax it gets me to $650 which seems pricey for this place. Hotwire has a 3.5 star for $210 for these same date in times square. original price shows as $334 which is the price listed on hotel website. Amenities listed (I couldn't use your search, work pc blocks it) Amenities  Smoke-free rooms  Fitness center  Restaurant(s)  Business center  Self-service laundry  Internet access Given the list, I deducted it could be the Manhattan because it is the only one with laundry.. What do you think? I know I run the risk of getting another hotel. But there is a saving of $120 after tax, plus there is the thrill of getting right (if I do) ;-)
  12. I was just checking Ocotber 3rd in Chicago on hotwire in hope to find the Peninsula... Looks like the Hyatt that is usually listed as 4.5 stars is showing as 5 stars now on hotwire. Just thought I would share.. 5 stars, 95% recommended Amenities Free Internet Pet friendly Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Tennis
  13. After looking at 5*, I am now looking at 4* for 8/16 since my first choice seems to be gone/did not work out. Here a few shots in the dark as far as what hotels could be listed 4 stars-$157 Water tower Pet friendly, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Tennis Nearby, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower I am thinking maybe it is the Crowne Plaza that was magically upgraded to 4 stars? I can't see any 4 stars in the list that has a pool...75% recommended matches the 76% on tripadv. 4 stars $186 River North Free Internet, Boutique Hotel, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Spa Services, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower probably Hotel Felix? 4 stars $209 Water tower Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique Hotel, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower Possibly Public?? (that would be awesome!) Most likely Whitehall? 4.5 stars $184 Water tower Indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access Thinking it could the Hyatt chicago or possibly the Omni 4.5 stars $208 Water tower Free Internet, Boutique Hotel, Smoke Free Rooms, Restaurant(s), Internet access Thompson or the Ivy.. Probably the Ivy? Although the recommendation at 95% match more the ones from tripadv for the Thompson. 4.5 stars $ 226 River North Free Internet, Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Spa Services, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower Could it be the James? Thoughts?
  14. The Ivy, huh? For some reason I thought it was going to be the Thompson since it seems to be won for the week-end before. I loved the Ivy but they dont allow for roll away beds so that would not work out for me.. I was actually hoping it was going to be the Thompson, that is too bad!
  15. Yes I do see spa.. I did not see that on Hot.wire's website! That is a shame.. I was guessing it would be the Park Hyatt.. I really I can find a way to score a booking on a friday sometime this year at the peninsula for a decent price. I will keep looking.. Anyway I can set up an alert for that specific win, so I can book the same one?
  16. The dates are 8/16 to 8/17 Thanks! still looking around to get a best guess.. I can't imagine it would be the Peninsula but it wouldn't be the first time..Their going rate for that room is $470 on other sites..and they are advertising.
  17. Hi, I am trying to Id the Magnificent Mile North - Water Tower area, 5 star listed at 50%.. The regular price listed on hotwire is $470. I thought for sure it was the Peninsula since it is the only one on the list and seems to match their marketing efforts on other sites for that date but the addition of the nearby tennis is throwing me off. Listed as 95% recommended (93% on tripadv.) The Langham is considered a different area. could it be Park Hyatt (on sale for $336 on regular websites) or the Ritz? I would LOVE a stay at the Peninsula..Given it is a staycation, the hotel matters much ;) Amenities  Free Internet  Pet friendly  Smoke Free Rooms  Fitness Center  Pool(s)  Restaurant(s)  Business Center  Tennis Nearby
  18. So we stayed there twice now, and I don't think I would go back. Tv was unplugged, the room looked untidy (small details) clock was off by 35 some minutes. The bedding made me very itchy (probably because of the detergent they use) that has never happened to me. We were also incredibly hot and it was in the middle of the winter. There was TONS of noise all night (I had an interview the next day!) All in all, it was not good.
  19. Just wanted to report my win. Bought a 3.5 star in Evanston/Skokie/niles area for $64 plus tax for 3/31. for 1 night. I got the Doubletree in Skokie, right across the mall. Almost tried PRICELINE, but did not dare :) we know the Doubletre and like it. Price or a room on Hotels.com was $139 for the same hotel.
  20. What did you end up doing? Where you successful using Priceline? I have been trying to find a hotel suite for a girls weekend too. I believe you can only book standard rooms and not suites with the PRICELINE / HOTWIRE hidden hotel strategy, no?
  21. Just sent some bucks through Paypal. Thanks!
  22. Hi, sorry for missing the dates! it is for THIS weekend 08/13 through 08/15. 1 adult, 2 kids.. She is fully ready to pay that much as everything else is way more expensive at this point.. But we do have the chula vista resort on Hotels.com for 219, so while it seems really pricey it is a sure bet. I would rather get her a better deal thought, trying to help :)
