  2. We actually had a 2 night stay booked through Hotwire for this night and the night before in Mission Viejo but United changed our flights and we ended up on a 6 am flight. We decided to stay out in Mission Viejo anyway and then head into the city late Saturday night, turn in the rental car and sleep by the airport. Using the 1 day sale "secret rate" email we got the Hilton. Tried searching on another computer without going through the email just to see if there really is a difference and it was $6 higher that way. 3. Been bidding for about a week and rates seem to be a bit higher for this one night stay than recently reported. Priceline Express has 3.5* for $73 and Hotwire is showing $78 for same amenity set. In my most recent kick at this today it went like this: Bid 3.5* DTW $46 - rejected Added Allen Park, bid $51- rejected Closed browser Bid 3.5* DTW and Taylor $56 -received counteroffer for $78 Added Allen Park, bid $61 -accepted. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $61.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $61.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.91 Total Charged to Card: $76.91
  4. So sorry! My cut and paste skills are clearly lacking! :D Please add: Accessible for the deaf In room accessibility Accessible bathroom
  5. Wow feel like we stole this one. Had the $20 off one day only email as well so the rate including taxes is only $58! Bye bye cancellable back up. 7. Haha I hit those links at least a dozen times this weekend trying to get this trip nailed down.
  8. This was for 2 rooms, 6 people. We`ve been really lucky over the years with Priceline and Hotwire. This one is less than thrilling but it`s my own fault. It`s at the tail end of a 16 person family reunion cruise over New Year`s that`s costing the earth (which is why we NEVER normally travel over the holidays) and I definitely jumped at the price for this one. In the end you really do get what you pay for. 3* for this property just seems like a real stretch but it is what it is. :) We will make the best of it. 10. Looks like a new addition for your Priceline Canada list. Started bidding 3.5* at $72 and got counter offer of $94. Closed browser and opened new window. Bid 3* at $64 and got counter offer of $81. Closed browser again. Bid 2.5* at $64 and got another counter offer of $81. Waited 24 hrs. Bid 3.5* at $79 rejected. Bid 3* at $72. Accepted. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night US$72.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: US$72.00 Taxes & Fees: US$17.41 Total Charged to Card: US$89.41
  11. One night precruise. This must be a very busy weekend in the Ft Lauderdale. Rates are quite high. Started bidding yesterday at $56 using 3* FLL airport, downtown, beach, airport north and to be honest, because rates are so high we really didn't care where we ended up. Went as high as $69 yesterday. Started again tonight and saw Hyatt Place Plantation on Hotwire for $99. Bid 3* West Plantation $71 - rejected Added Downtown $74 - rejected Added Airport North $76 - rejected Added Airport $78 - rejected Added Beach $79 - accepted Hyatt Place Plantation Obviously the only true rebid was Airport North but as I said we didn't care where we ended up as much as we cared about getting a good price. Summary of Charges Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $79.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Guests Per Room: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $79.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $17.07 (USD) Total Room Cost: $96.07 (USD)
  12. Used the BB HOTWIRE link. I had been looking off and on the last couple of days and the 3* kept changing. I had one that was recommended 50% of the time, another at 95%, and this one with complimentary breakfast at 90%. Today I kept getting only the 50% but then tried searching for 3 people instead of 2 and got this one. Also had a hot Dollars credit from a Hertz car rental in LA that became a bit of a debacle so that lowered the price. Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool, Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service), High-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby Rate per night: 55.00 Nights: 1 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: 10.15 Subtotal:$65.15 HotDollars: -$28.90 Total: $36.15
  13. Tried what seemed like a million combinations before landing this one. I was trying the old trick for this area, of bidding the 2 1/2* to try to land the 3* Hyatt Place. I've been successful with that many times before. Originally I was trying for the night before with two of us bidding on separate accounts and adding rebid zones. Eventually we switched over to try 3 1/2 star in Novi, and using all the rebid options we had bid up to $52 and didn't get so much as a counter offer. We decided to switch dates to Sept 1st and bid the following: 2 1/2* Livonia - bid $39 - rejected, counter offer of $48 Added Plymouth - bid $41 - rejected, no counter offer Husband took over bidding on his account. Bid 2 1/2* Livonia $42 - accepted at Courtyard. Offer price - $42.00 Taxes/fees- 12.41 Total chgd - 54.41 Used the PRICELINE link about a zillion times today :)
  14. We did not end up booking this hotel. We took advantage of a Travelzoo offer in Long Beach instead. Thanks for the assistance anyway.
  15. Thanks so much for the info and for the smart phone tip. I will report back when we decide what to do.
  16. Shoot, lol. After all my years of using this site just realized I was in the Priceline section rather than Hotwire. Good grief! Mods please work your magic. :)
  17. Just getting started looking for hotels for Sept 20 - 22, 2011. Flying into Orange County airport. Found a 3.5 * listed for these dates for two people with the following amenities: pool, business centre, high speed internet, golf and tennis nearby. Interestingly I pulled it up on my iPhone at a price of $95 and on my laptop at a price of $100. I may be having a mental block here but I can't find the area of Irvine Spectrum- Laguna Hills on the betterbidding California hotel list. Can you help me identify this one? TIA
  18. :) Lol, we each got a cookie and they were delish! Honestly, for the price we paid, it was all fine, just, for anyone who's going to be staying there be forewarned, they have noticeably cranky employees, lol.
  19. Just a quick report back on this hotel. The rooms are lovely; very nicely appointed with beautiful bedding. The halls to the guest areas look like they need some sprucing up but the public areas in the lobby (bars, restaurants etc) all look quite nice. We were there for three nights. I can honestly say that I have never in all my years of using Priceline or just traveling period, been treated so rudely by front desk staff. I've been booking through Priceline for years now and I understand full well that the bottom line is, they can give us whatever they want. Usually though, if they're going to do it they're nice about it, lol. When we arrived I asked if we could have a non-smoking room with a king bed. The girl told me I had booked through Priceline, I had booked a smoking room with two doubles and, if I wanted to make any changes whatsoever I would need to pay the full going rate for the room of my choice. I said, "hmm really? Well could you just add my HHonors number to my reservation for incidentals and let me think about this for a minute. I can really live without a king bed but I really need to have non-smoking. Are you sure I'd have to pay all over again just for a non-smoking room if you have some available? I might need to speak to a manager because I'm sure this is a policy you have to follow and I wouldn't want to get you in any trouble but I'm definitely going to need to try to get a non-smoking room." As soon as she put my rewards number in I was given the room type I wanted but she was seriously unhappy about it. (More proof that even though they don't award points for Priceline stays, it always pays to enroll and give them the number.) No smiles, no 'enjoy your stay', no simple common courtesy at all throughout our stay. I don't mean to imply that the general vibe was strictly because it was a PL reservation though, as we saw different staff members at the desk treat other patrons similarly. It was noticeable enough that I wouldn't ever willingly choose to stay there again. I should mention that the housekeeping staff was very friendly and I had no complaints at all with them.
  20. Spent about an hour and a half on various bidding combinations before getting a win. I started at the 4* level and bid all of the areas in the northern part of the city that actually had 4* (we didn't care where we were as long as it wasn't downtown) at $45 plus $10 bonus. Added them in one at a time leaving the price the same. Then using rebids I bumped the price up in $5 increments till I got to $65 plus $10. No wins so I started over and used the same strategy with 3.5* up to $55 plus $10. Again no wins. Eventually I started over again at the 3* level (knowing this was likely where we'd end up for the $$ we wanted to spend) but we're a bit more particular about area at this level so started at Mississauga $40 plus $10 bonus cash. Rejected. Added Toronto Airport East, bid $40 plus $10. Accepted. Bonus Cash per Room per Night - $10.00 Your Offer Price Per Room/Night - $40.00 Total Offer Price Per Room/Night - $50.00 Total Charges to your Credit Card Offer Price per Room/Night -$40.00 Subtotal $120.00 Taxes & Fees 28.89 Total Charges $148.89 Possibly could have snagged it for a few $ cheaper but a great deal none the less. Used the BB PRICELINE link. Thanks to the person on another Toronto thread that pointed out the IMISSU code for bonus cash. I had missed that.
  21. Thereuare, Please work your magic to move this over to the Priceline board. I had tried Priceline earlier in the week without success. Repeated my bids today (using the PRICELINE link of course) and won the following: 3* Detroit (Livonia) Hyatt Place Livonia $41.00 07/07/10 - 07/08/10 Bid 2.5* Livonia $39 - rejected, counter-offer to add $10. Added Canton - Bid $41 - accepted. Your Offer Price: $41.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $41.00 Taxes and Fees: $12.02 Total Charges*: $53.02 Note that the 2.5* bid was upgraded to 3* similar to previous wins reported for this hotel. We've stayed here a few times before and it's perfect for our purpose this trip.
  22. Sorry, just got back to this now. It's no longer there. It was 1 room 2 occupants.
