Finally found my notes from our stay at the Holiday Inn London-Mayfair. Our stay was in March 2004.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay here and hope to get this hotel again.

Location
The location of the Holiday Inn Mayfair is great, very close to Green Park Tube. Coming out of the tube, you take the exit to the right (following signs for the Royal Academy of Arts). Up 2 short flights of stairs (about 20 steps in total). Then walk east on Picadilly 1 short block, cross Berekely St, then walk up Berkeley another short block to the Holiday Inn.

Right at the tube entrance in a Marks & Spencer which made it very easy to pick up food. There was also a Starbucks on Berkeley. A Boots pharmacy was at the corner of Berkeley and Picadilly. Opposite the Boots is the Ritz.

Check-in
Check-in was quick and efficient. Asked for a large room, nonsmoking, and something better than 1 Double. Was offered an upgrade to Executive king for 30£ (was told it is usually 50£, but the clerk mentioned my Priority Club membership; I had previously emailed my number to the hotel.) Declined that and was given a 1 Queen room, #346. Also, check-in is usually 2, but we checked in at 12:30.

Hotel floors
There are 7 floors to the hotel. Our room, 346, faced the back of the hotel and a rooftop, so I assume floors 1 & 2 do not have rooms on the back. On our floor, room numbers 301-306 and 344-346 faced the back of the hotel, 307-318 faced Berkeley St.

The room
Overall, the room was recently refurbished and in good condition. The colors were red, green, and gold, with patterned wallpaper.

As you enter the room, there was a 6-foot hallway. Closet with trousher press, iron, ironing board, safe on one side, bathroom on the other.

Bathroom was about 6' x 6'. Sink had separate hot/cold taps. Bathroom had razor outlet.

The room was 12' x 18'. Queen bed, 2 side tables, love seat, small table, separate chair, desk & chair, luggage rack w/drawers, 13" tv on console (1 side of console is minibar where everything is automated and no room for person items, other side is tea set (kettle, tea, cocoa, cookies)).

The TV had about 10 channels, free Time Out in room, and free newspaper each morning (I think they asked at check-in what we wanted.)

Also, our room was right next to an elevator. But we never really heard any of the typical whooshing noise. Eventually, I think I heard a faint noise that I think was the elevator, but it was never loud enough to disturb us.
