I'm not much on reviews unless there's a problem or important detail and in this case, it's the importance of joining Wyndham by Request. After winning this hotel a month or so ago ($27 + bonus), I joined their frequent stay program.
At checkin, I was assigned a king suite with: free high-speed Internet, free local and free domestic long distance calls, free bottle of chardonnay, fruit and cheese welcome plate, a couple of free bottled waters, free USAToday and WSJ, and free faxs and copies if necessary. The first day freebies add up to about $20 - more if you get on the phone to all your friends.
Quite an extraordinary deal and lots of amenities in the room. Hotel has a great downtown location. Very definitely a 3* hotel.
This is a situation where winning this hotel on PL will cause me to seek out this hotel chain in the future.

Wyndham has quit offering the Wyndham by Request amenities to Priceline stays. I found this out in August when I tried to hook it up online for a Seattle stay. I got an email from the manager that no prepaid stays (or was it 3rd party stays) are eligible for Wyndham by Request.

I got that email when I was at the PHL Wyndham in August (the email came after I had been there a day). At checkin, the desk clerk made a point of saying that no By Request benefits would be applied and then there was a series of hesitations and I had this thought that maybe that one poster who's always talking about the $20 bribes had been there recently. I had the distinct feeling the clerk was waiting for me to do something (which I didn't) and I got assigned a clearly inferior room but complained and got moved to a regular room. Initially sticking me in a room that was unclean and in disrepair (missing chairs and trash can and shower liner, furniture and carpet heavily worn, etc. etc.) presumably because I PLed undid the goodwill created at the STL Wyndham.
I did get free local calls and high-speed Internet. Since Internet access is through Wayport and you put in your WBR number, I don't think they have a process to discern who's PL. I didn't push my luck and try a long distance number. No welcome stuff of course and they did make a point of skipping my room for paper delivery which just meant I had to zip down to the lobby each morning and get a free WSJ and USA Today from the front desk. Almost seems like it's more trouble for them to make sure I don't get a paper.
