Just enter the code on the purchase page. It won't matter whether you are or aren't a new customer. If you're concerned, use a different email address. But I was in the same situation and my purchase went through without a hitch.

Was the new amount reflected when you clicked purchase? I don't like when you apply coupons on the very last page. It makes me very nervous!

I don't think that I could see the discount had been applied until after I had actually purchased it. I didn't like that, but I figured I could protest mightily to Hotwire if the discount did not work.

I spoke 'off-board' with another who wasn't a new customer but tried the coupon anyway... he received an error message "you're not eligible for that discount and your credit card has not bee charged".

I'm not 100% certain, but based upon the text in the first post it sounds as if it was only for hotels.

Many of us have found that it is cheaper (and better since you know flight times) to book package components individually rather than as a package. If you'd like us to help you figure out the best plan for you please post the details of your trip in the appropriate category.

I think my answer above still applies, i'm not sure but am doubtful it applies to packages... and often you can do better on your own, purchasing the car rental and hotel seperatly.
